This is the first the hotel stories from Jakarta. And this one is very unique. The Hermitage is officially opened by (PLT) Governor of DKI Jakarta, Mr. Basuki Tjahja Purnama on June 5th 2014. The hotel was located in the historical district of Menteng, central Jakarta. When you hear historical district, that’s means the building of this hotel was also one of the historical building in Jakarta. It was built in 1923 which was once a Dutch Telecommunications office, the “Telefoongebouw”. Over the course of several decades, the building served various functions from Indonesia Ministry of Education and Culture to being a University of Bung Karno.
With this hotel, Indonesia specially Jakarta, can be proud again since The Hermitage has been honored with an affiliation to Leading Hotels of the World (LHW) and it is the only hotel in the city with this prestigious endorsement.
The hotel have four outlets for guest to enjoy those are L’Avenue is a chic ethno-brasserie with true French flair, Hermitage Lounge is the indoor all-day venue for casual bites complete with the Bar and Wine and Cigar Room, Courtyard Café is ideal for light fare and last one is the panoramic rooftop Bar La Vue that is located on the 9th floor.
L’Avenue is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner with various selection of menus. The location is in the main building which is the historical building. They have rooms as if seamy private since it is in partitions that makes it comfortable if you want to entertain a group of people or having a small gathering with your mates.
Hermitage Lounge is also located in the main building, the historical building. I really love the decoration, the feel of colonial era is really there… it have rooms that you can use to hang out with your mate, and what make this more special is, it has a special room for the Cigar lovers with the collection of premium cigars.
This one is also unique. The Courtyard Café. From the decoration it feels like you are in one of that fancy outdoor café in Paris. Here you can choose from patisseries to original cocktails. Very comfortable for afternoon chit chat with friends.
La Vue is one of my favorite. Id is at the rooftop and if offers a great activity. If you want to enjoy the scenery of Jakarta t night, you just have to take the stair to the roof deck and you can see the clear sky with the panoramic city sky scraper. When I came there, I was introduce with one of their signature cocktail drinks, which is very refreshing. They called it La Berries. It’s a mixture all kinds of berries crushed together and voila…
There are so many historical items at the Lobby where it is the Main Building area. Pictures of the building before it is transform in to hotel, ancient vase, old mirror, replica of the Menteng Map and also a board room and some meeting rooms that can be transform in to a Ballroom.
If you want to know more about the history of the building, what what is used before or you just want to ask for a guide of the city and surrounding, you can ask them, the Hermitage Ambassador.
When I went there, I manage to take a sneak view at their Executive Suite room. It is so big. It has it’s own working room, living room, bed room and bath room complete with a bath tub. It’s even bigger than my studio apartment. Another thing that is special for this room is the amenities in the bath room. It is from the Hermes.
Now this is my room where I stay. It is the Deluxe room, their lowest category. This room is divided in to 4 section; living room, bath room, bed room and balcony . The bath room is my favorite, I love the glass wall that dividing to the bed room. The shower is great and complete with hot and cold water.
For you to stay fit, they provide a nice swimming pool at the rooftop and also a gym room. These are free facilities for the staying guest.
